We’re on the move once more..
Back in 2013 when Ninos Y Ninas was born we never could have imagined just where the business would go. From that tiny pop up in Bearsden to our current home in Merry Street, we have turned customers into friends and we have loved every minute of watching your own little Ninos Y Ninas grow.
The time has come for us to move once more and this time it’s a bit further than our previous moves.
Many of you will know I’ve wanted to return to my home city of Nottingham for a long time and that opportunity has now knocked.
Ninos Y Ninas will come with me, our new shop will open soon and we will always remain online where you can shop with us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have so many exciting plans for the new shop, we have new brands which I just know you will love! They will all be available on our website in the coming weeks & months.
On a personal note, I would like to thank you all, whether we met in Bearsden or Motherwell, so many of you have supported us from the start and it’s been a journey that is certainly not for the faint hearted but I have loved it, and I hope that although I’ll be in the East Midlands you will all keep in touch and always be Ninos Y Ninas customers.
It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later!
Love,
Kerenza x

]]>Last week I flew over to Spain for a very special meeting with Victor & Dolo, owners of Loan Bor. My mother Angela and I were made to feel very welcome as we were shown around their modern factory.
As many of you know, I am very passionate about Spain and where possible strive to buy only genuine Spanish children’s clothing - not just designed in Spain and then mass produced elsewhere in the world…
We were taken to see each department in the the factory and view all of the steps in the design & manufacturing process - design, cutting, sewing, pressing, quality control and packing, as well as marketing and photography.
I learnt how the designer chooses the fabric, trimmings and fastenings to make truly unique outfits for babies of 3 months to children of 12 years. We had the opportunity to meet and speak with some of the staff working on each area of production, learning just how complex each outfit is to construct.
Victoria showed us how the collars were cut, using huge laser machines to first cut the inner linings (in all the different sizes), then the top fabric was cut on a different laser cutter and stitched together and on to the jacket. Being August, most of the staff were on annual Spanish August holiday leave, so the rows and rows of sewing machines sat idle.
Mercedes and Manoli proudly showed us how to steam each garment correctly, smoothing all the ruffles and frills, layers and petticoats, then placing them on hangers ready to go to the final inspection area, where fastenings, bows and buttons are checked, and any loose threads cut.
The garments then move on to a motorised bagging section where each item is fed into a machine that wraps polythene bags over to protect each garment. We were shown to the huge storage section where each shops order is checked over then ready for shipping all over Spain - and to Niños Y Niñas in Scotland!
Lastly we went upstairs to the designers offices to look at the photos of each outfit and then to make our choices of the spring/summer 2020 collection!
A truly wonderful experience for us which only further cemented our commitment to this truly beautiful brand. We look forward to working with Loan Bor each season and visiting them again in the future.
Dolce Petit have designed a whole collection using the bold colour, with dresses and skirt sets for babies and older girls.
New brand Elisabeth Puig's Badminton collection features coral stripes and casual sporty designs, our favourite is the playsuit with matching Cannes beach bag.
Miranda & Jose Varon feature the colour in bright prints. Watch out for swimwear and beach sets arriving in store soon.
Coral teams up perfectly with white, navy, denim and gold.
]]>Established in 1939, Nenuco has been Spain’s best loved baby cologne for over 75 years. Nenuco was created specifically for babies & children, the scent is truly unique - light and fresh, lemony but soft too. Perfect to give your baby a lovely fresh fragrance without overpowering his or her senses.
For many Spanish adults, a whiff of Nenuco on a passing child is enough to transport them back to childhood. They continue using it in adulthood because it smells wonderful!
Nenuco baby cologne is suitable to use on children of all ages, including newborns. The formula delivers all the tender love and care a baby’s skin needs. Since the formula is clinically tested, you can feel comfortable placing the product directly on your baby’s skin or clothes.
In the UK we do not have a long tradition of using cologne on babies, though modern mum's are much more likely to do so.
The collection includes the traditional cologne/colonia in both a spray bottle and a large refill bottle, liquid soap, body lotion, washing powder, fabric softener, wipes and air fresheners perfect for scenting your home with the iconic Nenuco smell.
Our favourite product is the Nenuco colonia in the refill size, it has so many uses and not just for the skin. Here are some of our favorite uses -

Our delivery of traditional Spanish knitwear is proving to be very popular - we have picked a Peter Pan collar for boys and a large pleated frill collar for girls.
The tracksuits are perfect for nursery or a casual weekend look with a pair of converse.
Our jumpers are great with jeans or leggings for a smart but casual look and the knitted dress is great with a pair of tights and ugg boots.
Available in all the classics - pink, cream, baby blue, red, navy & camel.
]]>All That Glitters
A/W 18 is upon us, deliveries are coming thick and fast, treasure chests full of beautiful outfits ready to be debuted once the summer is over. It’s easy to overlook footwear when we’re in the thick of winter dresses and cosy coats but we all know there are some boots that will never be overlooked. Ladies, our Rochy Glitter Boots are back!
Beautiful soft suede boots with the twinkle of luxury glitter detail, the velvet ribbon to lace up completes the look of these must have boots.
We all loved them last year, they sparkle like Meghan Markle’s ring finger and completed every outfit from a casual set to a party frock. My favourite dress to team them with so far definitely has to be this Rochy Gucci Collection Girls dress
They come in 5 standout colours, grey, red, navy, pink and camel. My little S needs a pair in every colour this year I think. The glitter on the boots never comes off on anything, any time I purchase anything that sparkles I expect S to leave a trail behind her like Tinkerbell’s fairy dust - but not with these. The quality is outstanding but from Rochy, we expect nothing less. Available in sizes 20-32, I find them true to size which makes shopping for them easy because I don’t need to drag my little angel with me to buy them! You can buy yours in store or online, but remember, they sell out fast!
Summer Adventures
It’s been a busy summer keeping S occupied, she’s still in nursery during the holidays but we like to fit in as much as we can around that. S and her little best friend H visited Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, they absolutely love it there. There is so much to see, they always enjoy climbing on the ‘dinosaur egg’ and inspecting the bee hive both in person and on the screen which the kids can control the zoom on. On a Friday morning at 11:30am they also run a Toddler Time group which is great especially if your little one is 5 and under, it takes place in a different area of the gallery every week and the songs, rhymes and stories take inspiration from the artwork and animals on display.
At 1pm there is an organ recital which always draws a crowd, the kids generally use this as an opportunity for a dance around, then we head off exploring, every week we find something new and we find the whole place really child friendly. The café has high chairs and great little lunch boxes, the baby change facilities are large and accessible for all sizes of prams. S is recently toilet trained but any mother will know the pain of sharing a tiny cubicle with an infant while you’re both trying to use the loo and just as your bum hits the seat they open the door while shouting to the whole of the M&S ladies loo ‘Mammy! I can see your daisy!’ or is that just my experience? Anyway, in Kelvingrove baby change the distance from toilet to door is far enough that you can pee in safety!
We also ventured to Mugdock Country Park. It took me 2 hours to get there but that is another story... Top tip, make sure your sat nav is set to take you to the visitor centre car park or you could end up in the middle of a golf course having drove over a ford then reversing back over said ford, have a child pee in their car seat because they’ve been telling you for an hour they need to pee and eventually having a meltdown before finally getting some solid directions!
When we finally got there we headed straight for the Stables Tearoom, a fabulous little place set in the beautiful courtyard, we stocked up on ice creams and cool drinks before venturing to the play park which is small but great fun, S ran herself ragged and managed to get some older kids to help her up a slide she was far too small to be on, she thudded down it like Nelly the Elephant and came flying out the bottom like a little bundle of instant regret, but she still wanted to try it again! After the swings and a more size appropriate slide she eventually retired to her pram for the big walk to find Mugdock Castle. The path is really lumpy and bumpy, we have a City Mini which coped really well (unlike my legs!) and when we got to the castle the view over the reservoir was beautiful. It’s the ideal place for a picnic in peace. We made our way round the rest of the park, taking a few short cuts thanks to H’s dad taking the prams up nearly vertical off road paths. It’s absolutely the place for an adventure, perhaps suited to older children in parts but we loved it and if you check out their website www.mugdock-country-park.org.uk they have various events on throughout the year too!
Next month we’re headed to M&D’s, Calderglen Country Park and Zoo and Happy Town in Cumbernauld. Read about it next month and if there’s somewhere in or around Glasgow that you think we would love, leave us a comment!
Celebrity Babies
A new baby Buble has arrived! Vida Amber Betty arrived on Wednesday 25th July joining big brother Noah and Elias. We got a glimpse of a very gorgeous little hand via Luisana’s Instagram page, hopefully it won’t be too long before we see her lovely little face.
In June the Royal family got another new addition, Prince Louis was the baby of the family for just a brief time before he was made big cousin to Lena ( pronounced Lay-na) Elizabeth Tindall, second child for Zara and Mike and little sister for Mia. I wonder how long we will be waiting for another Royal Baby announcement? The excitement is already building here!
Team GB’s Tom Daley and his husband Dustin Lance Black welcomed their first child together, a son named Robert Ray Black named after Tom’s late dad Robert. Christine Lampard has been out and about with her bump in full bloom, not long now until she and husband Frank welcome their first child together, a third for Frank who has two daughters from a previous relationship.
Well that concludes this month, it’s been short and sweet but I’ll be back soon with more on the Autumn/Winter collections, my Toddler Tales and the latest in all things bumps and babies.
Until next time,
Nx
]]>The clean lines and simple decor give the room a timeless look that True can grow in to. Dark wood flooring and a soft pink colour scheme give the room a bright, airy feel and the gorgeous butterfly ceiling mobile from Pottery Barn Kids adds a feminine touch.
We adore the modern acrylic Vetro Crib from Nursery Works - a snip at $4,500? Simple and understated, the lucite crib is made with non toxic materials and is fully recyclable! Perfectly dressed with linen from Oilo Studio and finished with a cosy Avalon blanket from Hermes.
We recently introduced Cambrass range of cribs and cot accessories to Ninos Y Ninas. Proudly made in Spain since 1984 and offering high quality furniture and coordinating linens.
Our favourite style is the Crown crib, available in pink & blue and well as grey and white neutrals, the crib is finished with drapes and a skirt. The frame has castors allowing you to move the crib from room to room.
If you prefer something a little more modern, the mini crib is a popular choice with various linen colours and prints.
What ever style you go for, we have a lovely range of cushions and blankets to finish the look.

This month I'll be bringing you -
Gadgets - the good, the bad and the useless
When I was preparing for the birth of my little angel, I did what most expectant mothers do, I hit the internet harder than I hit the sales on Boxing Day. I was completely overwhelmed with nappy bins, top and tail bowls, Ewan the dream sheep, Sophie the Giraffe... The list was endless and I was clueless.
I eventually muddled my way through but I wanted to know if the things I found a life saver were of the same help to other new parents and if they had any secret items that I had missed out on. We know that babies are all unique but we went for the most common things that are marketed as must haves and the general consensus went a little like this -
Top & Tail Bowl – Pointless. Buy a mixing bowl from Asda for 1/10th of the price and use that. It's the exact same thing.
Bumbo Seat – For me, I loved this. Baby could be sat anywhere I needed her to be and I didn't have to drag a highchair around but my panel disagreed. Another pointless purchase apparently.
Bottle Warmers – Get a jug of hot water, does the same thing. I hadn't ever used one of these so I'll take their word for it.
Perfect Prep Machine – This will always divide opinions and will always be a bone of contention with the masses. Some health visitors will make you believe it'll kill your baby and other's think it's the best thing since epidurals. I LOVED mine. Bottle made in next to no time, perfect temperature, didn't have to keep licking formula off my wrist in the middle of the night when I wasn't sure what my name was never mind if it felt cool enough. Top Tip – Baby haze is real, we've all been making a bottle at 4am and lost count of the scoops and had to start again so I purchased a little pot from Asda that had 3 compartments. The idea is you count the scoops out when you're awake and coherent, so through the night you just open the lid and shake a compartment into a bottle.
Gro Bags – My mummy panel all agreed Gro Bags are a must have. Swaddling in the early days is great for keeping baby feeling secure and warm but my baby never kept her hands in the blankets, she was an absolute fidget and more than once we watched her wriggle out of the blankets which then poses the risk of it going over her face or her getting tangled up. Gro Bags let our little fidget's have hands free sleeping without getting tangled under a pile of blankets. We used ours until she was almost 2 and they are a definitely a must have in our book.
Baby Showers, Love or Loathe?
I had never heard of a baby shower until a close friend invited me to hers back in 2012. It was a great day, games, cake, seeing your skinniest friend look like she'd swallowed a beach ball and feeling semi slim around her for a change. I came away happy that I had purchased a gift for the baby before it had even arrived and I didn't have to worry about panic buying when it finally did. At that point though I don't think I would have felt rude by attending without a gift, the mum to be was a close friend, I would be buying her child a gift at some point anyway.
Fast forward a few years and now it seems baby showers have turned into massive events that are taking the country by storm, the same planning effort as a wedding and the guest and gift lists to match! Have you ever attended a baby shower that was just OTT? Did you feel a pressure to purchase the latest gadget or a designer baby grow? Knowing Mum would be opening her gifts in front of everyone, I felt the pressure at a work colleagues shower. I began to wish she had just asked for vouchers instead of being left to my own devices to purchase a gift that was going to make the crowd 'Oooh' when she opened it. I settled on a lovely blanket. It didn't quite get the reaction of the Baby Uggs or the £130 designer baby grow that was absolutely going to be the child's outfit of choice for it's first projectile vomit, but it was lovely, good quality and useful!
My own baby shower was surprisingly great. I didn't want one. I didn't want any of my friends or family stressed out organising or gift buying and I absolutely didn't want to be made open gifts in front of all the guests. However, I have a mother and cousin who don't understand the word no. I posted an online invitation and requested no presents, just come and eat cake and let me enjoy seeing my friends one last time before motherhood took over and I became one of those people who mentally replied to texts without ever actually sending a reply, or the mother who has 3 different conversations while you're on the phone to her and hangs up without ever finding out why you called in the first place. We hire a pub lounge, people brought lovely gifts for me as well as the baby which was nice, and unexpected. We played games, aunties got drunk and told me horror stories about stitches and failed epidurals... It was a grand day out for all. I definitely think low key is the way forward.
The Royal Baby
I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know when I write about the latest addition to Wills and Kate's brood but I can't not mention the most talked about birth on the planet!
Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge arrived on April 23rd at 11:01 weighing a whopping 8lb 7oz and becoming fifth in line to the throne.
I was glued to telelvision as soon I heard Kate was in labour. I had BBC News on waiting for announcement of the birth of what I had absolutely decided was going to be another Princess Cambridge. I am utterly useless at guessing the sex of a baby. Fast forward a few hours and the Prince had been born and then came the wait. We had a good idea we would get a glimpse of him before the day was out. I was furiously texting my friend things like 'Her hairdresser has just left. We can't have long to wait' and 'George will be finished school soon, William will probably go and get him and Charlotte any time now' like I was talking about people I knew personally. Eventually William did leave and he came back with a shy George and a very sweet, waving little Charlotte. Both eager to see their mummy and meet their brother.
I always feel sorry for Kate when I see her post birth, baby only a few hours old and there's his super hero mother coiffed and preened, looking like she's just walked out of a shoot for Tatler when we all know she would rather be in her pyjamas eating toast and sitting on something cool! I can't remember how I was a few hours after giving birth but I know that I wouldn't be able to face the World's media, no matter how many stylists, hairdressers or magicians were there to help me get ready.
Prince Louis got to spend his first night on Earth at home with his siblings and parents and we can't wait for the photographs that are likely to come from his budding photographer Mum and to see what he's wearing.
Celebrity Babies
So, we've touched on the most eagerly awaited arrived of 2018, Prince Louis, but he wasn't the only April Arrival. Khloe Kardashian welcomed daughter True, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and his wife welcomed daughter Tiana and Opera singer Katherine Jenkins give birth to her second child, Xander.
Pippa Middleton announced her pregnancy the day before the birth of her royal nephew. She and husband James Matthew are expecting their first child together.
Kate Hudson also posted her gender reveal to announce her pregnancy, she will welcome a girl with her boyfriend Danny Fujikawa later this year. Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans also announced his wife Natasha was expecting twins after the couple went through IVF to help them concieve. James Bond star Daniel Craig and his actress wife Rachel Weisz are also expecting their first child together.
The Toddler Tales
My little terrible 2yr old is well and truly established in the Terrible Two's Club. She cries for no reason, everything in sight is 'mine' and she decides half way through eating her dinner that whatever is on her plate is disgusting and she hates it. We are having a great time!
I do my best to keep her occupied so we have started attending a Kidslingo Spanish class which she absolutely loves. The classes are suitable for ages 18 months and up, you can find out everything you need to know including where your local class is by visiting www.kidslingo.co.uk
Heads of Ayr Farm Park
We had heard so much about Heads of Ayr Farm Park in Ayrshire but never visited until last week. I was a bit apprehensive because I know how popular it is and I hate going anywhere where its too busy to enjoy yourself but we certainly picked a good day for it.
Parking was really easy, we arrived about an hour after opening and got a decent space. Prices were £11 per adult and £9 for every child over 2. We made our way in and straight to the horses that were waiting to greet us, we had a wee look at some tiny monkey type things and then I spotted a sign saying Roosters and proceeded to tell my daughter we could go and visit Hei Hei from Moana until it was pointed out to me by a member of our group that we had just came out of Roosters and it was in fact, the cafe. After a giggle at my expense we headed to the giant playpark. There's everything for all ages, the jumping pillows are great fun but we also thought the individual trampolines with safety nets were a fanstastic idea.
We then embarked on an adventure to meet the animals. Animal feed that is suitable for every animal on the farm could be purchased for 50p a bag and there was lots of handwashing facilities available for after you had fed / petted the animals. This was great fun and the little ones absolutely loved it. There's so much to do throughout the park, tractor rides, Diggerland, a sand pit as well as the swing park and climbing frames. We also got up close with a corn snake named Amber and a very cute little hedgehog called Sonic. The staff were great with all the children.
When lunch time rolled round we made our way into the indoor soft play, the cafe inside does a variety of soups and toasties, baked potatoes and hot drinks. The soft play is big enough to keep the kids entertained and it was for Under 5's meaning we didn't worry too much about our kids getting stood on by much bigger kids. The seating area is ideal as the soft play is visible from all the seats and the food, although expensive was tasty enough. We purchase a soup, a baked potato, a coffee, a soft drink and a kids sandwich with crisps and it was almost £20. Next time we will pack a picnic because the kids hardly ate, too busy in the soft play.
All in all we had a great day out. We were 4 adults and 2 toddlers, we spent about £20 each on food and £31 on entrance fees. Not the cheapest day out but perfect for s special treat and we did spend the whole day there and we would definitely return.
Next month we'll be visiting Edinburgh Zoo and exploring the Nenuco brand and it's wonderful smelling products.
I also want to hear from my readers! Let's talk old wive's tales you were told during your pregnancy, you can let me know in the comments and we'll find out the most common ones next month,
Until next time,
Nx
]]>If you haven't heard about LMI Glasgow it's a model camp for children aged 3-12, however this is not your usual model camp - not a tantrum or tiara in sight. LMI promote natural beauty, improving confidence, encouraging self belief, and teaching the little models the importance of giving back by fundraising for long time charity partner of LMI, The John O'Byrne Foundation. The camp itself is set over four days -
Kerenza, Ninos Y Ninas owner, sponsors the winner's prize and attends to present it. This year the organisers invited Kerenza to judge the competition alongside current 'Miss Scotland' Romi McCahill, Waterloo Road actor and talent scout Reece Donnelly, Kilmarnock footballer Dominic Thomas, model Nicola Mimnagh and Mr Fabulous himself, James Smith. I went along to see it all in action.
A slightly dramatic start to Sunday morning when the compere for the event, radio presenter Suzie McGuire, had an accident and couldn't attend. Fortunately showbiz journalist Beverley Lyons was able to step in and save the day! We got to hear a bit of showbiz gossip and giggled at her valiant attempt at pronouncing the name of Ninos Y Ninas. We were also treated to some fantastic acts throughout the day including singers Rianne Downey and Robin Ashcroft, dance group Dance Vibez and the very talented Irish dancer Oscar Donnelly who recently appeared on Steve Harvey's Little Big Shots in the USA and now has over 6 million views of his videos online.
So it began, 36 young models strutted their stuff on the catwalk in 3 different outfits - the first being their official LMI t-shirts teamed with jeans, then came their spring location photo outfit and finally their eco friendly themed outfits which are all made using recycled materials. I think this must have been the toughest round to judge because the effort that was put in by the children and their parents was outstanding - from paper flower dresses to kilts made from IKEA bags, this was definitely my favourite round of the competition. It's a different time from when I was a child, I'd have been sent down that catwalk wearing a bin bag or an undecorated cardboard box. Pinterest has certainly upped the crafty parent game over the years!
I have to say, watching the children take to the catwalk in a room of bright lights and strange faces with the spirit, courage and occasional shimmy or hair flick was quite something. All of the children today, from the Teeny Tiny 3-4's to the Mini and Little 8-12's were an absolute credit to their families and to the team at LMI Glasgow. I spoke to a couple of Model Mum's who were delighted with the results from the Model Academy especially the confidence workshops and praised the team for making the whole experience one that their children have absolutely loved to be a part of.
Before the winners were announced, John O'Byrne of the John O'Byrne foundation took to the stage with his friend Ella to tell us about the work they do and to announce the amount raised by the models. I had previously read about John and the incredible work he does with children who suffer with long term illnesses and spend long periods of time in hospital, but today I found out that he started his foundation with just £100 that he raised from a signed football and with that money he took a little girl who had spent a long time in the ICU of Yorkhill Children's Hospital to Disney on Ice to cheer her up. From there his passion and drive has taken his foundation from strength to strength and they have been able to send children on holidays all over the world, they gift them tickets for concerts & events, days out and even pamper sessions for their parents and trips to LapLand. We were shown a video of John and his team at work spreading their magic which was accompanied by Ella singing Photograph by Ed Sheeran. It was a beautiful few minutes and it certainly made me realise how lucky I am to have a healthy child. For so many families hospital stays are a part of normal life but thanks to inspirational people like John and his team these stays can be made a bit more bearable for all involved. John, we think you are wonderful and Ella - we'll see you on the X Factor! The total amount raised by the children to support this well deserving charity was an astounding £4069.00! The winner of the award for most money raised went to the Teeny Tiny group's Jayce Cooper Stafford who raised £607, a marvellous effort from Jayce and his family.
Finally the time had come, I reached the end of my day at LMI Glasgow and it was time to announce the winner of the £1000 cash prize and modelling contract with Ninos Y Ninas and in addition to the main prize, Kerenza also chose her own winner to do a photo shoot with their choice of outfit from the spring / summer collection. The overall winner of LMI Glasgow's spring academy was Emmanuela Ambrose. The judges were impressed with Emmanuela's confidence on stage and during her one to one interview, a beautiful, happy little girl and a very deserving winner. Kerenza's chosen winner was Braydon McVey, who won her over with his bag pipes and kilt made from Mother's Pride bread wrappers and his big smile. We are looking forward to seeing you in store soon Braydon!
Today all of the children left with a trophy and a certificate to mark their completion of Model Academy, no one went home empty handed and all the kids were so happy for the winners. As a mother myself I have never been one to put my child forward for any Bonnie Baby competitions or modelling because I live in fear of creating the next Honey Boo Boo. However today while watching Amanda, Ann Marie and the rest of the LMI Glasgow team I was made to rethink my decision. This team treat your children as if they were their own, they cheer for them, the get to know them, they want to see the children succeed, not just in modelling but in whatever they put their minds to. It's a wonderful environment that your child will thrive in, make new friends and learn to love themselves as well as the people around them. When my little Honey Boo Boo is old enough to enter I'll definitely sign her up. I can't guarantee she won't get chucked out after the first tantrum though, she's a fiesty one.
If my blog has got you interested in signing up for a future bootcamp, check out the website and select your nearest city to find out more.
Until next time,
Nx

I was honoured to meet John and look forward to working with him in the future.
All children are awarded and over 30 trophies were given on the night for individual achievements.
